Final Cut Express Won't open!

It sounds as though that plugin could be responsible ..... try removing it.

Go to Hard Drive>Library>Application Support>Final Cut Express Support where you will find a folder called "Plugins".

The plugin should be in there. Drag it out to the desktop and try FCE again.

I've a similar problem but with no screen messages, simply I do click on the icons to open the app, and this never opens in a G5 Quad. The same with any version of Final Cut Pro.

Please give complete and exact information. What G5 is this? What version of FCE is this? What OS? What QuickTime? When exactly in the load process does it fail?

Like insertcoin, I get no error message. I watch FCE (v4.0.1) go through its setup, and when the splash screen disappears the program is shut down. I tried reinstalling with no change.

Please watch for exactly when the application closes. The splash screen is not static, it's constantly displaying what it's loading. Where exactly in the load process is the application failing?

Before reinstalling you must completely uninstall like this:-

It's no good just trashing the FCE icon.

If you will never need it again, trash it. if you may need it, and you haven't got the original source, you can just keep it somewhere convenient.

Sounds like a conflict with a plugin. Do you have any third party video or audio plugins installed, either for Final Cut or for another application like an audio application.

I'm not sure how to evaluate whether the plugins are Apple or not (Info doesn't state author).

In Final Cut Express Support/Plugins I have Title 3D and Title Crawl from Boris included in FCE.

In ProApps/Internal Plug-ins I have FxPlug/Filters and ProFX/FxPlugWrapper and a folder with FxMetaPlug files.

First I apologize if I am asking similar question in this thread but seemed logical.
Apple nubee here and been searching everywhere to see how I can resolve this FCE quitting unexpectedly. The error message seems to be looking for a file that either does not exist or I cannot find it:

I have a Macbook Pro running 10.6.2 snow leopard.

What version of FCE is this? This is a new computer with a new installation of Snow Leopard or did you upgrade?
