Final Cut Express Won't open!

Hi there,
I cannot seem to open FCE since installing Snow Leopard. Every time I tried to open FCE - it reads "Final Cut Express quit unexpectdely while using the AviImporter plugin." Can anyone suggest on what to do?

iMac and Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

It sounds as though that plugin could be responsible ..... try removing it.

I had the same problem as you:
Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/ProFX.framework/Versions/A/ProFX
Referenced from: /Applications/Final Cut Express.app/Contents/MacOS/Final Cut Express
Reason: image not found

but I tried downloading the plugin manager, and it said it was already installed.
So not solved.

Anyone have any clue?

so, let me start by saying i'm new to macs and not an expert but i will try to find out a little more. solving your error will depend on your install type, most likely! Did u happen to do a fresh install or you had fce running previously and all of a sudden you are getting this error? mine was a fresh install and i could verify that the file 'fxpro' did not exist so downloading and installing pluginmanager fixed my issue. in the course of my research i also remember seeing posts that some were getting this error and their preferences for fce had gotten corrupted. that would apply only if you had run fce successfully before then it would have created files that are specific to the preferences. otherwise there would not be any preferences.

This solution worked for me:

I installed FCE4 onto a brand new mini (10.6.2) and had the "/Library/Frameworks/ProFX.framework/Versions/A/ProFX" error.

After an hour of going though the results of googling "/Library/Frameworks/ProFX.framework/Versions/A/ProFX" I found this page:

http://blogs.oreilly.com/aperture/2008/03/apples-pluginmanager-173-utili.html.

And installing this fixed the problem. Now FCE4 opens as it should
