iphone bluetooth interference garble with Pioneer DEH-P7000BT car stereo

I use the iphone 3GS and have the Pioneer DEH-P7000BT car stereo. I have loved them both. BUT - since the 3.0 firmware update on my iphone, i am having garble interference when using my iphone with bluetooth through the DEH-P7000BT. Never had the problem before 3.0 and the 3.1.2 update has not helped.

Anyone have any advice?

Thank God I'm not crazy! I have the identical problem same stereo in car, same garbled speech on bothends of the conversation. You didn't mention it, but mine is cyclical - comes in about every 45 seconds or so, lasts from 10-25 seconds, then clear again. The connection with my first gen iPhone was crystal clear - a joy to use.

I spent an hour at my local Genius bar this weekend and am no closer to a solution, even after they swapped me for a refurbished phone. If anything it's worst. My best? Apple will have to first acknowledge there's a problem (no go on that yet) then fix it with a software update and who knows how long that will take. I

FYI I alsoemailed Pioneer to see if there is any firmware updates for the deck. I' e certainly not seen any on their site, but other than a confirmation email I haven't heard back.

I have the same garbled/interference when using the phone for hands free-phone calls

I wouldn't worry about it, ANY use of a mobile phone in a car will soon be banned anyway.

"States should ban drivers from using hand-held _and hands-free_ cell phones, and businesses should prohibit employees from using cell phones while driving on the job, the congressionally chartered National Safety Council says,"

Another Pioneer Head unit owner here with unusable bluetooth. I know for a fact the issue started after the upgrade to 3.1.2 on my iPhone 3GS.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to legitimately downgrade to 3.01 to resolve this issue for further testing. Not sure what to do, I spent a lot of money on my head unit and use it extensively so this is a big issue for me.

Had a genius appointment today - more of a precauation since I knew there wasn't going to be much they could do. They did not seem to be aware of a specific issue with Pioneer or Alpine units, but some general bluetooth issues with 3.1.2. (KOP, PA Store, btw).

I don't see a resolution for this issue coming any time soon. Personally, I'm trying to locate a 32G 3GS to replace my phone with since I cannot backrev the firmware.

Hello,

I have a DEH-P8080BT car stereo and a iPhone 3GS 32GB and I am having the same problem. On every call, after 15-30 seconds I start to get garble interference from time to time on both ends. If I use bluetooth to stream music to the stereo, theres no interference, so the problem is only when I am using the phone.

I used to connect an iPhone 3G 16GB on this same stereo and everything worked fine. After I bought the 3GS, the problems started.

I hope we can find a solution soon.

I emailed pioneer tech support about this issue. Specifically asking:

"Can you confirm the pioneer DEH-P7000BT is compatible with the Iphone 3GS running iphone firmware 3.1.2?"

...and this is the response I got:

"Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.
It is compatible, but we cannot guarantee that the interface between the I-Phone and the radio will be 100%."

Whatever that means.. :-/ I would encourage everyone who is having issues with this to email Apple and Pioneer:

Just wanted to add on to this thread to say that I am experiencing the exact same problem with my iPhone 3GS 16GB 3.1.2

I have garbled sound when making calls using Bluetooth with my Pioneer DEH-P700BT car stereo. My old Nokia E51 was flawless and to think that I might have to get a new stereo to solve this is really frustrating.

This issue along with being unable to achieve a full day without having to recharge makes me wonder if I have made a huge mistake tying myself to a 24 month contract with an iPhone.

Does anybody know when the next iPhone firmware is coming out?
Is there a way to revert to an older iPhone firmware which does not have this issue? 3.0 maybe?
I really hope either Pioneer or Apple will take some steps to resolve this!

My Follow-up. Tried the following to address this issue with NO LUCK:

-Disabled Wi-fi
-Disabled 3G (Edge only)
-Tried switching sources (to earbuds) then back during calls.
-Actually was able to downgrade to 3.1.0
-Tried offering a one-for-one swap with someone plus $100 if they had a 3.0.1 iPhone
-Tried buying a 3.0.1 outright - can't find any!

None of the above worked. As determined as I am to fix this issue, the fact remains it was introduced at the 3.1.1 firmware (which was quickly replaced by 3.1.2 due to battery drain issues).

This needs to be addressed by Apple. I've been to the store, I've called Apple Support. I don't know how to get someone to pay some attention to this problem.

- I saw discussion of the new dev for 3.2, but don't didn't get any indication of release.

- There is none. Perhaps if you can find someone willing to trade with you.

- I agree. I don't think Pioneer will do anything about it, however, since I haven't found any evidence of other phones having the issue. Also, it's pretty clear that the issue was introduced with 3.1.1 or 3.1.2. I know the two iPhones in my household worked flawlessly with my P8000BT when they were at 3.0.1.

Hi Guys

Just updated to 3.1.3 and tested in my car with no improvement 😟
Sound is still garbled. The cycles between distortion and clarity seemed to be slightly longer however.

I wonder if Pioneer could fix this? I am thinking of ditching my Pioneer DEH-P700BT for something else. Any suggestions on what to get?

I am sorry to say that I think the problem does not come from 3.1.2 firmware but from iphone itself.
My brother's iphone3GS (week30-40 2009) upgraded to 3.1.2fw connects to my car bluetooth (Pioneer DEH7050) flawlessly, and it produce clear calling sound. However my 1st iphone3GS (week45) with 3.1.2fw and new modem firmware had that garbled sound like yours. Furthermore my 2nd iphone3GS, swapped one, still has the problem.

DOES THIS PROBLEM COME FROM INCONSISTENCY of PRODUCTION OR LOWER-GRADE HARDWARE?
