New 27" iMac -- Slow Flash Video

I just want to reiterate that I have the same issues with flash video as already mentioned... but also add that i see performance issues outside of the browser.
For instance something as simple as resizing a window in adobe photoshop cs 4 - and even in finder doc animates out of auto hide very chuggy aka not smoothly.

on a hunch seems like firmware needs to be updated by apple, or it could be video card issues... but definitely not how a brand new computer should behave.

also how long does it take for an apple representative to respond to these boards?

Same issues here with a new 27". Actually seems slower than my old 2.0 ghz Core Duo iMac (the first intel iMac. Given how widespread this is I'm guessing a bad video card driver???

They don't usually respond to posts here. This is a user-to-user forum and we are all other users helping each other. You will occasionally see an Apple employee posting, they have a gray Apple logo, but they are posting on their own time as another user. But don't let the lack of "official" Apple representation discourage you, the experience and knowledge here is astoundingly impressive and willingly given.

Exactly the same problem with my 24in...I previously had the 24in (early 2009) and it played the videos with no problem.

I have also found that the system itself runs slowly after a days worth of being left on. Apple needs to get this bug fixed asap!

OK people, I have just tried the suggestion put forward by ChadJ85 and it seems to have worked! By messing about with those DNS settings, the videos are loading faster and Safari is responding very nicely now.

I would recommend you follow the instructions given by ChadJ85!

This is definitely NOT a DNS issue. Fast DNS resolution will improve browsing performance for sure but this issue is different...

Some, if not all, 27" iMac's (I've had one since Oct. 24th) have a bug that causes system resource consumption resulting in severe slowdowns.

Most notably occurring after a period of flash video playback the system resources for safari plug-ins will consume 140% or more. I have tried reinstalling Snow Leopard from scratch, updating the flash plug-in and NVRAM resets only fix the problem for a brief period - Nothing fixes the issue permanently.

Very annoying indeed but I'm sure Apple will have a fix shortly.

I'm looking to buy the 27" from Best Buy. Should I get the 21.5" instead?

The performance bug exists on the 21.5's as well.

Like i said earlier...It must be crappy safari, cause ive never had a flash video problem using Firefox. I streamed some hd tv shows yesterday for hours without one skip or slowdown on my new iMac

It might be all webkit based browsers, I had the same slowdowns with Google Chrome as well... I'll try using Firefox this evening and see if the problem persists.

I agree. This is not browser specific at all. I was watching a movie in itunes and this began to happen.

this must be hardware/firmware issue because absolutely nothing fixes the issue beyond temporary.

Run disk utility and repair disk permissions on your system drive then reboot. That fixed it for me.

same problem here.. Never had issues with my 24"imac. This ***!!

Flash is not only slow on the new iMac's!!! On my MacBook Pro and 24" iMac flash get slow as well!! And after about 15min leaving a flash site open the fans will kick in!!!
