New 27" iMac -- Slow Flash Video

Hi All,

I just upgraded my 24" iMac to the new 27" iMacs that just came out. Well, now EVERY flash-based site like youtube or hulu runs unbelievably slow. Looking at activity monitor, Flash is hitting about 100-110% of my cpu. It basically makes the browser unresponsive and the video is choppy.

Is there something going on with the new iMacs? Has anyone else experienced something like this? I'm running 10.6.1 with the latest Flash 10 player.

Thanks!

Well I guess this is some what comforting. It seems it's a snow leopard thing then. I had snow leopard on my 24" iMac as well but it was only for about a month or two. Maybe I just never noticed it. Must have something to do with flash and 64bit support. I've tried opening safari in 32bit mode and still have the problem so who knows. Apple just needs to address the issue and fast.

Day 2 on my new Imac and am pretty bummed. First of all, migration assistant transferred everything from my time capsule and had nothing but issues trying to use my CS3 apps. Wasn't allowing my license and would not run. Finally after viewing many threads on this I was able to get it running. Anyways, running any CS3 apps for me has been nothing but a horrible experience. Very slow, choppy, getting the rainbow wheel way too often. Even typing an email I can type and watch the letters start displaying one by one after I wrote the sentence???? So I sit here working and then get to slowly watch the computer catch up? Definitely not what I was expecting from this new machine. My old white 24" 2.06 or 2.16 whatever it was, was much better and faster! Does anyone know if the new CS4 runs any smoother on Snow Leopard?

I have CS4 and it seems to run okay but I'm not really a heavy user. BUT the computer in general just feels very sluggish. I debating whether i should just go return it for a macbook pro or another 27" iMac. I've tried running two of my virtual machines on here and FORGET IT. I mean you're talking about a 10-15 sec delay on every click. SOMETHING is def. up with this machine or this model in general. I had ZERO problems on my 2.93Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 24" iMac.

ok.. The more and more I use this computer I'm starting to think this isn't a flash issue or a snow leopard issue but may indeed be a computer hardware problem. I just don't know if I have a defective unit or if all these new iMacs are in need of a firmware update. I had snow leopard on my 24" imac and never had ANY problems with flash or any other program. EVER...ANd i rarely turned that computer off. What i've noticed is when i first boot my new computer or restart it everything works great. Saw a total of 3 hours of flash video on the computer with no problems. Ran my Windows 7 and Windows XP VM's and no problems. Left the computer on for about 3-4 more hours and came back tried to do the same things. Well flash video was totally garbled and I couldn't even click on the START button in the VM's, they crashed. iChat, mail, web scrolling, everything running really slow. So my first thought it maybe something with the GPU or CPU heating up.. Nope temps have been the same since it first booted so what could it be? I'm so frustrated right now. Everyone who has called apple and have created a new account or reset pram is working only because you're doing a RESTART. I'm thinking you're problems will return and if they don't then I must have a defective unit. SHOULD I JUST GO EXCHANGE IT FOR ANOTHER ONE?

I got my 27" Imac a week tomorrow and I realized it have performance issues.

1) If you leave it on for more than 5 hours, some applications like Rosetta Stone, Front-Row, iPhoto, Garage band and others start running slowly. I always end up having to restart the system.

2) And this morning I encountered the flash problem, I had to download the video I was watching on the internet before I could finish it. NOT COOL AT-ALL. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO DOWNLOAD, Apple.
I'm disappointed; but I belief someone out there is going to DO SOMETHING ABOUT THOSE PROBLEMS.
This is not a VISTA. IS IT? Apple.

And How come my magic mouse doesn't do TWO-FINGER SWIPE in iPhoto or Safari as PROMISED.

Overheating makes sense. I've found the 2 finger swipe gesture doesn't get recognised if your fingers are too close together. If you keep them in a slight V shape its generally fine in my experience. (no middle click is killing me though, 2 steps forward, one step backward)

I cant believe the slowdown problem is so widespread. Surely their QA team ran builds for more than 30 mins?
