iPod touch Volume Control Slider not working. Will it be fixed? Please fix

all of this information is accurate and what most people are experiencing.
I have the same issue, it's maddening!

I can drag the slider on screen, and it'll adjust the volume, but the slider slings back to its original position.

I have volume limit off

It's gotta be a software bug.

I just noticed something: if you double-tap the home button to bring up the iPod controls, the volume slider there works flawlessly.

I have the opposite problem. The volume slider works fine on the display, but the volume down button on the side sometimes does not work, only volume up.

I have just noticed this problem as well. In my case the volume changes sometimes but not others but the slider always goes back to where it started. Also I have noticed that sometimes it will move when I use the volume buttons on the side and other times it wont, but the volume does change!

Must be a software bug, hopefully it will be addressed soon!

You're not crazy.

I'm having the same problem. Started today after syncing my iTouch with iTunes this morning.

As if that weren't maddening enough, now to get on here in the hopes of support, and find all these non-answers saying, "Did you read this?"

Sheesh... Might as well have a Zune (Microsoft product, duh!) for all the support you get on these forums.

Actually Shubes, I can't speak for anyone else, but I never post 'just because I feel I have to respond.'
I post to help others. As do all the other people who come here (the ones without the problems).

And yes, i regularly post 'have you tried the troubleshooting steps,' because almost all the posts I am replying to do not describe what they have already tried, and the troubleshooting steps GENERALLY fix most problems - I do not believe this to be a 'non-answer' - I have never had a problem with my iPod touch that has not been fixed by following some if not all of those steps.
Everyone on here is at a different level of knowledge - sometimes even the most simple suggestions really help people out - if a post hasn't explained what they have already done, then we don't know what level they are at, and how much they know about the support pages on here.

You talk about 'canned responses' from Microsoft. I have read plenty threads on here which actually suggest that they have had similar unhelpful contact with the guys at Apple (I talk as a user of PCs and iPods.)

These are user forums, we're all users trying to help from our own experience. Responses like yours calling us 'drooling morons' (when you know nothing about any of us) and asking us to 'shut your trap and keep your idiocy to yourself' is frankly only going to put us off offering you advice.

You haven't said, have YOU tried the afore mentioned advice? Or have you just dismissed it as useless without even trying it?

I suddenly starting having this issue too. It was working fine (I play music and audiobooks), then when I started listening to new audiobook it acted up. At first, the slider was at about 3/4 of the way to the right. Then I went into my sound settings and played around with that for a while. I had left it at maximum volume. When I came back audiobook, the slider was almost all the way down towards the left and I couldn't slide it back up. There was no sound at all but I was able to use the hard controls on the side of the iPos to turn the volume back up. The slider still remains at the same position though.
