Many Thanks to you all , your help is very much appreciated . Just one thing regarding the compatible Cameras with Mac , the list says that iMovies'09 is compatible with Canon EOS 5D Mark II Video formats ... IT DOESN'T ...!!! .... I just don't understand why don't they just update the D....M Program to accept all kinds of formats. Hopefully with iMovies'10 they take our concerns seriously.

I have a Sony HDR-CX100. The thing that I dont like is that imovie decompresses the file! A video shot in 1920x1080 at only 16 Mbps is over 800 MB a MINUTE. When I up the same clip to my roommates PC, its only 120 MB. Storing an original file nearly a GB per minute is just crazy. So the cam is compressing it, imovie decompresses it and recodes it as an MOV file while its being captured and then you have to compress it all over again to make the file size manageable? Ridiculous. Has anyone figured out how to get AVCHD and Macs to get along better?

yap all thing is frustrating i movie09 reads from mine Canon Vixia Hf S 100 diretly but converts files authomaticly and saves as mov.on top of that there is no way for imovie09 to read mts.directly from HD so i upgraded for final cut express 4...this guys can't do nothing at all with mts. :-{....so ending uo just with frustration...conventor softs looks like only solution so far....
