(Early 2009) Mac Pro Video syncing problems when booting up with LaCie 526

(Early 2009) Mac Pro Video syncing problems when booting up with LaCie 526.
When I turn on my Mac the display flickers on and off about 5 times from normal to a blank blue screen. Most times in load up with out problem but once in a while it will stay on with just a blue screen. The problem has gone alway almost completely now with Snow Leopard but still flicks in the beginning and on rare occasion blue screen stays on. Does anyone have the same problem???

I thought it was the Video card or monitor. I took the Mac Pro to Apple they said there was nothing wrong with it, and LaCie gave me another screen but the problem was still there.

Mac Pro 2.66 Ghz Quad Core 8GB 1066 Mhz DD3, Mac OS X (10.6.1), ATI Radeon HD 4870, LaCie 526

Pretty baffling then... almost sounds like it's not making a connection at a critical time. The DVI cable is in good shape? Probably.
You say it's improved since installing Snow Leopard? And with Leopard then it was worse?
Barring some hardware problem I can only think it's a driver issue, but I don't see why the problem would be intermittent.
Post again if no one else replies. My bottom line would be to hope that 10.6.2 fixes this for you.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
