MacBook Pro won't connect to Airport on 5Ghz

For some reason my Unibody Macbook Pro won't connect on a 5Ghz channel on the brand new Airport Extreme (late 2009) instead it connects to a 2.4Ghz band, anyway i can force it to connect to the 5Ghz?

MacBook Pro Unibody, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Note that you need to have a separate name assigned to the 5 GHz network for this to work.

Otherwise, the computer will choose either the 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz signal depending on what it sees if both bands have the same name.

No changing the SSID has no effect.

77swords solution fixed this for me. However, it's not possible to re-enable the guest network without the timeout error returning. My guess is a firmware issue.

After dozens of tests I found following solution for me:

When I deactivate the DHCP service of my Airport extreme the 5Ghz Wlan is not visible for the Macbook. When I activate the DHCP I can see and connect to the Airport in 5Ghz dualband mode.
