When I transfer 8mm or 16mm film to my camera I get lots of flickering.

I know it has to do with the projector and camcorder running at tow separate frame rates. My projector does not have a way to adjust the speed. I am using a 3ccd Panasonic mini dv camcorder. I've heard that you can mess with the timeline settings to lessen the amount of flicker you see.

There are services like [Scan Digital|http://www.scandigital.com> and [MyMovie Transfer|http://www.mymovietransfer.com/index.html] that can capture 8mm and 16mm in a high quality scanning process. If you do it yourself, you are likely to get flicker.

After a lot of research, I used Debenham for transferring a bunch of 8mm home movies to DV tapes. I was happy with the overall experience. I never bothered with the "filming-the-screen" approach since it was pretty clear that the quality is so poor.
