Yellow tinge from bottom to top of the screen, 27" iMac

My 27" is showing a yellow tinge when viewing on the bottom of the screen compared to the top?
This makes color corrections on my photos impossible. Anyone else has this problem? You can easily
see it on white or grey background (even in finder windows)

Well You2Mac, after posting nearly 800 posts on these threads & there still being defective screens, you also would seem "Not Very Positive". If you go back & read my post during the month of January, you'll see I was in fact very Optimistic. But after being here so long & seeing no progression whatsoever, I have become Jaded & can't really see the Light at the End of the Tunnel. It's kind of like the Boy who cried Wolf too many times. We have heard 100's of times from different Apple reps that Apple has fixed the problem. And in the beginning, I listened & was a believer. And I hoped the next new Week Number would bring that perfect new Yellow Free iMac, but that never came. Going on over 4 Months, the promise of a fix is getting old & tired. I only stick around these threads to help others. I have my imperfect iMac but I can't notice any imperfections, but I know they are there. But it doesn't bother me because when I use my iMac, I see no problem with Color Variance. Just when I put those darn Grey Bars up. So I hope now, you can understand why I am "Not So Positive".

Hi all,

after receiving my 2nd 21,5 iMac with yellow halo I contacted Apple and complained.

I managed to talk to Apple Customer Relations and they said that this is NOT a known issue with 21,5' screens - too bad the first person I had talked to had told me the opposite...

I explained that I'd had enough with it, and wanted to put an end to this situation asap.
She said if I had bought it from the apple store I could have received a new replacement or my money back.
However, having bought from a Premium Reseller, she said I had to speak to them.
I pointed out that this is very bad as they are treating "us" like second class customers.

Today I received an email asking to evaluate my experience with Apple telephone support - mentioning the name of the employee I had talked to.

However I did not reply - I want to wait to see the end of the "iMac story" first...

Cause I called the premium reseller store and they offered to go to the store for the very last attempt to test a new set.
I will test it in the store directly.

If it's found to be flawed again (which I believe will happen), they will give me my money back.

This is surely acceptable.

I will keep you guys posted.

Hi guys, I need your help.
This is my first iMac 27'' after several years as a Windows user.
I've taken some photos of the display which seems yellow in the first 1/3 (from the lower).
What do you think about it ?
Here are the pictures:

Your pictures are the best I have seen so far in this thread.
I don't see a yellow tinge, but, of course, it doesn't mean it's not there. If it's there - then it's very very slight.

On some photos with horizontal bars the upper bar seems to be a bit darker than the lower. But it might be because of the viewing angle.

*However, remember, that only you can see for sure if it's there or not.*

and you know Apple got them for less than $100. a pop for ordering. a half million of them. I have no idea, I'm just guessing! 🙂 All the screen pictures here are looking the same. Slightly Lighter shade at bottom than top of Screen. Slight Color Variance. Do my Test if you really want to know what you got. But if you even do my test & the Color Variance does not show using Safari full screen or in any other of your Apps, it's a Keeper. Ok, & providing your not a Photographer or a Graphic Artist.

For the 150th Time, Here Is The TRUE Test!

Grey Bar Test:

Take a picture with your Camera of the Horizontal Grey Bars & another Picture with the Vertical Grey Bars.
Theses bars can both be found Here:
http://tapplox.com/imac-led3.html
http://tapplox.com/imac-led2.html

Copy Both Pictures from your Camera to your iMac.

Open Up your picture you took in "Preview"
With the Mouse Select the entire Left Grey Bar
Go To File, Copy,
Go To File, Paste
Now Drag the Copied Section to right next to the Right Grey Bar
Go To File, Paste
Go To File, Save As…
Give the Picture a NEW Name

* Do Same with Horizontal Grey Bars.

Latest update:

I spoke with an Apple Customer Relations rep today. She informed me that there is indeed a "fix" for the defective displays. She also informed me that the dead iSight camera pixel issue is a "software issue that will not be fixed by replacing the camera". She told me a future software update will address that problem. Seems odd to me, since it sounds like faulty hardware, but we'll see.

Regarding the 27" defective display, the rep called my nearest Apple Store Genius and asked them to order me a new display and arrange for a same day repair. I had to push them on the same day repair as they originally wanted me to drop off my mac for inspection before they would order the part. That would involve a 100 mile round trip to drop off the machine, then another to pick it up. Now the Genius will call me when they have the part, arrange an appointment, and repair it the same day. I also inquired how they can guarantee I'll get a "good" screen and was told that the replacement screen has an entirely new part number indicating that it will not be from the old inventory of defective screens.

Has anybody out there had any luck with a screen replacement?
