Yellow tinge from bottom to top of the screen, 27" iMac

My 27" is showing a yellow tinge when viewing on the bottom of the screen compared to the top?
This makes color corrections on my photos impossible. Anyone else has this problem? You can easily
see it on white or grey background (even in finder windows)

mstrammd, If I had a Dollar for every time someone from Apple Customer Relations said they have a "Fix", I'd be a very Rich Man right now. Did she happen to tell you exactly what the Yellow Screen Fix would be? Let me answer my own Question. She Did Not! It seems Apple is very good at Public Relations but poor at fixing iMac Screens. I am not trying to depress you but this is the truth. Me being a practical person, you can only fool me 2 times. Ask anyone here how many times a Tech or a Customer Relations person said they have a fix. Again, I'm Not A Hater! Believe it or not, I still Love Apple! They still remain the best at Customer Service of any company I have dealt with & they design the best Hardware & Software in the World, IMHO! And I will remain a Customer! But on this one, Apple again IMHO, did not handle this in the correct manner. They should have sent a Memo out, so everyone in the company could stick to the same story.

Dino, I sure hope you are wrong about ACR this time. I did ask the lady if I was just going to get a replacement screen from the defective batch of LG displays. Her response was that it would be a new screen with a new part number. Unfortunately, all I can do is accept what I was told. The rep said the machine would "undergo extensive testing" at the Genius Bar after the repair. (Personally, that sounds like a load of public relations BS IMHO.) I will not accept a repair with a yellow replacement display. The rep told me I was "entitled to a one-time display replacement". What the h*ll does that mean? If the replacement screen is yellow, tough sh*t? If the fix doesn't work I will ask for a refund. I only hope that they will refund my money if they can't fix the screen. I can't recall if AppleCare entitles me to a refund outside of a certain time frame. I bought the machine in November.

Hi Jacques,

I'm not sure that's the same screen Apple is using for the iMac. Many panel manufacturers have different models for the same size panels and they can vary in price considerably. However, if that's the case and this is in fact the same product found in iMacs then these computers are a real RIP OFF.

Having said that, it would be sad that many people consider these computers cheap for an "Ultimate Display". Also, the rest of the components are below in terms of memory/capacity/etc to most of the PCs now.

I always thought Macs were more expensive because of the quality of their components but I might be wrong of course! 😟

And believe me, I hope I'm wrong also. This is one thing I would love to be wrong about. I hope you get a perfect screen. That would give everyone on here hope. As far as extensive Testing goes, when I alerted Apple about the issues on the 21" Screen & they called me and thanked me for making them aware of the problems with the 21". They said, "Apple Had No idea the 21" had a problem. We need to capture your 21" for testing." I really thought my Letter to S. Jobs was making a mark. I thought I might be the one the first customer, to have let them know. I thought I was making a Difference. I wrote that Letter 2 months ago. But Guess What? I was Dead Wrong! Because there are still reps & techs telling people "Apple had no idea the 21" screen had any problems". That's an old story now.
And as far as them replacing only one screen & that's it? That's the new Protocol. If your new screen is not satisfactory, ask for a Refund. Good Luck on your new screen. I hope it's Perfect!

Any chance you can grab your screen part number now and compare it when they install the new one? That is of course if it works... I'd be interested to see just how "true" that is.

Do you know where I would find the part number? I suppose I would have to ask the Genius Bar guy for the number.

I remain very skeptical about a truly re-engineered display. I have been in communication with Apple for nearly two months on this issue and I've been holding off on any replacement until a real fix emerged. My time is too valuable to be screwing around with multiple replacement machines/screens. I want this fixed PROPERLY the FIRST TIME!!!

I checked the Technical specifications for that LG Monitor and the one in the iMacs and it's definitely a different one. You can see the iMac panel is better in many ways(apparently), like Brightness, Resolution, View angle, etc.

Now let's find the real price for the ones in the iMacs. Maybe those are really $500. lol!

Good for you Kiwi.... I have taken the same decision and enjoying this awesome computer (aside from the -in-famous screen color variations....) 😉

Yo man. I was offered a refund and will take it for now. I told my rep she could give me a gift card to the apple store because I will buy another mac. I will not go back to a windows machine after this. This particular computer is not for me until the screen is ultimate which it surely is not. I may buy again when I'm sure I will get what has been advertised. For now I may buy a Macbook Pro. But got to have a mac regardless. Thanks to you, Din1956 and everybody on these multiple threads. We all should be getting paid for this. I will be following this thread and be checkin in with the bros and gals. Later!

I had a similar fight with Apple over the wear-rate of my MacBook Pro keyboard. After 60 days of use it looked like it was 3 years old. Same for many people, but clearly there has been no change to the keyboards in 1.5 years... so you either move on or get over it. I chose to get over it.

Would you provide more info on the MBP keyboard issue? I have one, and haven;t noticed the problem, but I used a separate keyboard for a while.

Sorry for the off-topic post.

Thanks.
