Yellow tinge from bottom to top of the screen, 27" iMac

I think saying there is a Small Percentage of Defects at this Point in time is BS. Come On, wake up & smell the Coffee. I had this argument with User Pazuita months ago. He kept on saying 1% are defective. You don't have to be a Mathematician to know that figure is 100% incorrect. If so, why have I not seen one perfect screen posted in almost 1000 pages? I'm not going by any site including the Squeaked one anymore. All those Statistics are Misleading. Answer me one Question. How come no one was able to do my Grey Bar Copy & Paste Test & come up with a Perfect Screen? Answer: Because there is no Perfect screen in this Version iMac! It's not just a percentage, it's the whole lot of them. 100% Defective! Some accept them because they can't see the flaw. Others never checked because they are oblivious. But make no mistake, even the guys who were on here earlier in these posts & received Screen Replacements & were happy, never posted Pictures of their So Called Perfect Screens. Because they probably are in the same situation I am In. The iMac fails the Grey Bar Test, but you can't see any Color discrepancy when using the machine. I of course posted my photos, because I am a realist. And I'm not worried what anybody else says or thinks. I'm making my own decision.

Just started lurking here having started to get the yellow tinge on my week 47 iMac bought in store.

Mine seems a bit unique from what I've read on here and other forums, in that my yellow tinge is the entire right side of my display. There's a dividing line that is painfully obvious when a white browser window is opened right down the centre of the screen.

Anyone else have this? I've noticed most people seem to speak of top or bottom halves having this issue.

Also, had one stuck pixel 2 - 3 weeks in.

Three of my four Imac's were like yours.
The 21.5 imac was the worst with a defining line where the yellow ended just left of centre and the blue took over..

Not very nice at all......

There seems to be an other problem with quite a few screens: a darker horizontal band on the bottom of the screen. You can test it by setting a middle gray background and have the dock disappear. I never saw it, but after this test I know my iMac has it too 😟

OK. A Week 10. I can see the variance. How does it look with Safari on Full Screen? Can you see Yellow or Bright vs. Dark areas ? It doesn't look too bad to me. But I've seen too many.

What do you mean exactly?

I mean I can see some Yellow on bottom of screen. If you open Safari & make the screen as big as possible from end to end (hide the Dock) & you can't see any problems, then you probably have a decent Screen. It does not look bad. Do you understand?

I m currently writing on my 3rd iMac, which is a week 6 and I can notice the yellow tinge.
On the iMac 5 I have a hard time noticing it, so I m probably keeping it. I have to talk to my sales rep. Maybe I can swap it at a later point. For now I have enough.

Yea like I've been saying. It all depends on YOU! I had 2 iMacs with Yellow & you could see it all the time. My 3rd iMac I have currently fails the Grey Bar Test but when Surfing full screen in Safari & using every other App, I see no problems. So I'm keeping mine. Good Luck!

dreamstate, you know you have to call Apple. You casn't live with a dividing line. That is totally unacceptable & Apple will agree with you. And it has Dead Pixels. Get rid of it. Try another exchange if you can.

I'll definitively not buy a new iMac... I'll keep my two years old 20" even if I still dream a bigger screen.
I hope that for the next generation iMac, Apple will not choose LG screen again.

The calibration I described in a previous post :
White point to 6756 Kelvin
x= 0.950 unchanged
Y=1 unchanged
z=1.127 instead of 1.089

was made using Mac OS X Calibration Assistant.
System Preferences > Displays > Color > Calibrate
on the Expert Mode

Doing the whole process will create a NEW profile (a file 'yourname.icc') that you can use instead of the default from Apple.
The result is 'cooler' (less yellow) than the iMac profile.
Just experiment, you can return to the default when you want.

eivissa100, You mean you still have not broke down & got that 27" replacement? Surely, Apple must have given you some other compensation, when you refused the upgrade. I still cannot believe you did not go for a bigger screen, better Video Card & 2X the Hard Drive space.
