Yellow tinge from bottom to top of the screen, 27" iMac

My 27" is showing a yellow tinge when viewing on the bottom of the screen compared to the top?
This makes color corrections on my photos impossible. Anyone else has this problem? You can easily
see it on white or grey background (even in finder windows)

Danabeck, and you did correct if you cannot see the problem with your naked eye its a perfect machine, well lets not say perfect because I have been Insulted here many times and said to leave this discussion, but there are several articles here way more informative than some posted here, Like one guy that posted a phillips website showing the construction on how LCD panels are manufacture, and how a diffuser is used so each color channel is turn on or off letting the light pass through and this is clearly that the IPS has a infant technology.
The IPS diffuser is where the problem more likely is, with such a massive screen, and only a palm hand away from the screen; there will always be a color shift at any angle you set your eyes toward.

this is a great page for you guys to understand how infant the IPS technology is go to where it explain polorizers and light switching also.

I love that store, I have to say for those people who are aggravated with with idea of replacement don't torture yourself or spend time and money of your own, and apples time, with this look at the descriptive informative page of 3M that page is very well explanatory on how LCD Panels work from what all is being discuss in this board, believe me once you go through all the chapters I believe this discussion would be more straight forward, than just having doubts, whether apples next batch is going to fix the yellow ting, save your time and money, Apple is not going to fix this, because its a technology so infant that it would take years probably never to have this uniformity fix.
Apple Sold you oranges for Apple, well yes, but thats publicity and marketing, the Ad business is never true to sell you what they are selling you, its a business, the Ultimate display iMac, only fools would fall into this ad campaign I never did, but this discussion board brought many buyers like me some paranoid ideas, and believe me some screen are worst yes, some a better, yes, but not all are perfect, not even the CCFL screen from 3 years ago, or 10 years ago, **** no one in the photo, visual media, or pre press industry wanted a flat panel LCD in 2001, or 2000 because there was such a huge color shift that it was the worst screen ever invented, all industry standard were CRT screen.

Lets put it this way nothing in this life is perfect not even your McDonalds burger, **** if I was to claim for all the picture delicious burger photos and pay for what I didn't get, I would be in constant aggravation.

so if your not happy stop the torture and get another computer beside the iMac or wait 10 years maybe IPS would be IPS-xs or what ever it would be and the uniformity would not be as bad as it is today

I would say that I have started to agree with your approach to this issue.

Last night I had my brother coming over to get a second opinion on the screen, and although he could see that part of the bottom has a yellow tinge, he convinced me that it is not that bad... and that I should keep it.

And I must admit that looking at the issue from his external point of view it all makes sense (especially cause I am not a graphic designer...).

However, it's the freaking finger print about 10 centimeters from the right bottom corner that bothers me... i have definitely noticed it on my own without any influence from forums, and i can see it with a white background...

I just wouldn't want to return it and be iMacless one more time... and then what? Buy a very expensive mac mini?

Just remove the glass and clean it with a microfibre cloth. Its not that hard.

how do you remove the screen?

This video makes it seem like the easiest thing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy0o2WdrN3M

I am not very good at stuff like that...

and wouldn't that void the warranty??

I am confused...

And what should I then clean the glass, or the screen? I believe the former..

Salvage an old joystick and get 2 suction cups. Put them on the top corners and pull gently towards you. Then lift the glass up and remove it. There are no seals or whatever which could void your warranty. Its really simple, you cant do anything wrong. There are also plenty of videos on youtube on how to remove the glass.

renzopanta:

I wouldn't touch it. Return it to be fixed or just return it. Check to find out if the warranty would be voided. I suspect, I suspect. You shouldn't not be trying to fix something that is new. If the glass should break, you're dead meat and I wouldn't take the chance that Apple will fix it for free. It's new--you shouldn't have to work on it. You paid good money.

Glass or not, I wouldn't remove it in a normal room. You'll end up with dust particles which is going to be worse than whatever problem you were trying to fix.

You can always try turning on a hot bath shower get it all steamed up. Then remove it in the bathroom. This minimizes the dust, but if you are going through that trouble, why not packed it up and return or exchange it.
