Water Submersion Indicator - Void Warranty

I've only had the iPhone 3GS for two months. Since then, I have been using it carefully. Never have I dropped my phone or put it in any location in which liquid was present. I live in sunny California and it has only rained once so far. I kept the phone within my pocket so there isn't any reason why rain could've gotten on it. However, when I took my phone to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store because Home Button is not working smoothly (No problem on device function, though), they told me that my water indicator had gone off.

Do you have similar situation? Why did this happen? I am really careful on using iPhone, but I could not believe in Apple's judgment.

After buying an iPhone, are people NOT allowed to sweat? Otherwise, warranty would be voided.

And people are NOT allowed to take the iPhone into bathroom even it is put on dry counter-top? Maybe the moisture and humidity is bit of high.

Apple great iPhone products should be able to work well under these environmental conditions, right? Does iPhone spec and warranty spell out that you are not allowed to work out while carrying iPhone?

Designing a cheap indicator such close to the edge is just a way to easily get away with their obligation for warranty work, i think.

I don't have any idea why you're arguing with us. Go to the Genius Bar, your phone isn't working. And your accusation about the design belies the fact that 99% of us have no problem with the indicator, including those who live in environments substantially wetter than California. My indicator is fine, and I live in California. In fact, my iPhone has been on a trip on a motorcycle driving up the 101 to Oregon. That's pretty wet, and my iPhone works perfectly.

There's a saying in medicine and retail sales....everyone lies.

I got 2 iPhones 3G 16Gb, live in Portugal but i travel alot to countries like Angola (Africa) where humidity easily is at 80%.
I never used my phone under rain or even dropped any of them on water in any circunstances

One of them got the HOME button dead, so i took it to Vodafone in Portugal service (in here warranty for electronics is 2 years), since i came there they were already asking for a bt over 300usd for a replacement because i had wear marks on the back, but the screen is without any scratches or anything…on preliminary report they almost said my iPhone was hit by a truck.
I refused to pay up that ammount and demanded a technical report on the phone cause i wanted the home button replaced.
Next day they stated i had the port sensor red and i had it under water so they gave it back and sent me away…
If i had the phone on water both should be red , right? If it has 4 water sensors like some say shouldn't they be all red or pink?
i came home and got my other iPhone and the same red on the port and not on the hearjack
so i am sure those sensors are not reliable, and were placed to get Apple and carriers to the easy way out, and the word is void!!!

So if you need to be in tropical places, sweat, use the phone alot, and got it on Vodafone Portugal, beware cause they will frame you and better than that is to see you can't get a second opinion on those

but if you google a bit you will see like 7,550,000 for iphone sensor problems and 600,000 for iphone sensor issues...

And yes, some say they dropped it in the pool, in the toilet etc, however not everybody is a liar or want to cheat, i think the manufacturer should learn from the design mistakes, unless it find it nice to sell refurbished iphones at a lower price like they were Santa before time. But my guess is this is a scam.

I know what i did, and if i can't have a phone on my jeans pocket on summer, should i buy a iphone trailer or carry it on a plastic air bubble
