Bluetooth headset drops connection

I'm having trouble using my Nokia HS-11W bluetooth headset with my iMac 20" G5 2Ghz with integrated bluetooth. And ofcourse with using Skype.

I can only get the headset connected once, after breaking the connection reconnecting is impossible and I need to reboot the Mac plus the headset to get them to work again. I can try to connect, but it will disconnect immediately and display an error (could not connect to the bluetooth-audio; translated, I have a dutch Mac OS).

The only way I can "use" the headset is by doing the following.

1. Boot up the Mac
2. Power up headset
3. After automatically connecting; open Bluetooth preferences and disconnect the headset
4. Open audio preferences (headset will connect automatically) + test the mic
5. While keeping audio preferences open I can use Skype

Now if I would close the audio preferences window, thus having the headset disconnect automatically, reconnecting is impossible. Without the audio preferences step the headset won't work even when connected.

For the record; I can connect and disconnect perfectly with my mobile phones. In the above situation bluetooth was switched off on the phones to keep it from possible interference.

Does anyone have similar problems? Or maybe, know a solution?

Hey Andrea,
I have the same problem as you listed in your original thread, I own a PoweBook G4 but with bluetooth 1.0 and after upgrading to 10.4.3 everything but my Nokia HS-11W headset worked, it just hanged both Skype and iChat. Afert I followed your procedure, it works, I can adjust it from Preferences pane, etc but it still drops the connection after a few seconds no matter in which app I am. Do you have any clue of what could still be wrong?
I hope you can help me out.
