Bluetooth Not Available

This morning I turned on my PowerBook G4 12" and my wireless mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard didn't work. I couldn't seem to get a connection? I looked at the Bluetooth icon and saw there was a line through it. I clicked on it and the message I got was "Bluetooth not available". I rebooted and this hasn't helped. I've looked at help on my mac, and found nothing, and I can't find anything specific in the FAQs on the support site. I've checked software update and there's nothing to download, so I assume I have the latest firmware. Can anyone help?

After several month of workig fine my wireless mouse suddenly stopped working. I tried setup assistant but it didn't recogize the mouse. Fnally I used Bluetooth Firmware Updater 1.2 and now I get "Bluetooth: Not Available" and if I open Setup Assistant it says "No Bluetooth Hardware found..you must have a Bluetooth module". The firmware updater is running, saying "preparing to update device" but neve does, ending in an "Idle" notice. Remnoving the Powerbook battery sounds like a nice trick but it didn't help. What else can I do?
Thanks for advice
Thomas

I appreciate it can get a touch boring/frustrating with repeat suggestions. but bare with me anyway. is your G5 a Power Mac or iMac?

If it's an iMac, could you retry the steps I listed in: london_geezer, "Bluetooth Not Available" #39, 04:21pm Jan 19, 2005 CDT and then let us know the result?

If it's not an iMac or the suggested steps don't help, I would get a support call started with Apple.

Hi everyone
I have been following this and other discussions for about a year trying to get my bluetooth back after my upgrading to OS 10.2 (now on 10.3.8)
Removed battery, zapped all sorts as suggested and nothing worked untill I visited the genius bar at the apple store....
Found and removed all preference files from system and user libraries and replaced them from a machine whose bluetooth worked and voila! all working as it should.
Hope this might help anyone else who has had no luck elsewhere.

I read all of the post and found one that worked for me. iMac G5 after start up did not recognize my apple keyboard or mouse. I unplugged all of the cables in the back, waited one minute plugged everything back in and started the iMac back up. There was my bluetooth and everything back to normal. This is the first time that this happened to me. I have used my G5 iMac since the day that it came out.

I miss my bluetooth and would be really happy to have that functionallity back, can anybody help, please???
