This morning I turned on my PowerBook G4 12" and my wireless mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard didn't work. I couldn't seem to get a connection? I looked at the Bluetooth icon and saw there was a line through it. I clicked on it and the message I got was "Bluetooth not available". I rebooted and this hasn't helped. I've looked at help on my mac, and found nothing, and I can't find anything specific in the FAQs on the support site. I've checked software update and there's nothing to download, so I assume I have the latest firmware. Can anyone help?

Hey, the remove the battery trick worked for me, too. Thanks for posting your solution!!
Me too and i have refound my bluetooth removing the battery of my powerbook 17".
You have to go to apple menu and go to Information on this mac and then to more information . At the end you choose bluetooth.
Just to throw my hat in the ring, I'm having the same problem on my PB 15"
(OS X 10.3.9). Wouldn't it be great if Apple could simply publish the solution to what is obviously a major problem here. There are at least 10 different solutions on this thread. I've tried most without luck, will keep at it I suppose. 😉

Thank you SO much! I turned on my 17" Powerbook today - no bluetooth - no keyboard or mouse connectivity - shut down and popped out the battery - and SHAZAM!
I concur! I killed bluetooth by installing the bluetoothfirmwareupdater12 update, but after shutting down, taking the battery out and starting I have bluetooth! Great!
