Where's my French AZERTY keyboard layout?

Where's my French AZERTY keyboard layout?

I'm new to Mac, so I'm sorry if this is obvious! But via System Preferences -> Languages & Text -> Input Sources, I have enabled the French keyboard layout. However, this layout is a Belgian AZERTY layout which is significantly different from a French AZERTY layout. I'm not sure why Apple would choose to use the Belgian layout over the French one (there are an order of magnitude more French French speakers/typists than Belgian French speakers/typists), but surely the French one is available somehow. There are also "French - Numerical" and "Swiss French" layouts available, but these too do not match a French AZERTY layout.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could you tell us which keys are not correct? Mac and PC layouts are often slightly different -- perhaps you prefer the latter? If so, I could send you the one used by Logitech (email me, tom at bluesky dot org).

Apple appears to use the same keyboard layout for France and Belgium - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2841 . Since Mac keyboards are different from PC keyboards already, I guess it doesn't matter that they don't match the PC keyboard differences. Perhaps the French were so fond of Minitel that there were actually more Belgian Mac owners than French?

I'm not sure it's really a "PC" difference -- Vista offers Belgian, Canadian, French, Luxembourgian, Monacan, and Swiss AZERTY keyboard layouts. If you see KT's response below, that is a French AZERTY layout. Is there a way to install a new layout? And where would I find it?

As I wrote earlier, Logitech produces one for people who use PC keyboards with Mac's, and I can send it to you if you will email me at the address provided.

You put the new .keylayout file in Home/Library/Keyboard Layouts, logout/login, then check its box in system prefs/language & text/input sources, then select in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder.
