Mail Sending Messages Before They Are Complete!

Hey guys, I've had numerous problems with Mail in 10.6.1 (see below) that I never had with 10.4, but this problem is the worst! Mail is sending my messages to their recipient before I finish fully typing the email, so the recipient receives an email that cuts off in mid-sentence! What the heck is going on and how do I fix it?

Just FYI, here are the other Mail OSX 10.6.1 issues I have had:

1) I had all kinds of problems syncing Mail with Gmail using IMAP. One of them was I would move messages into a separate folder in Mail, Mail would sync with the Gmail server and create the folder and move the messages, then Mail would go back and retrieve all the emails I had moved and replace them in the old folder!

2) I had a problem where the mailbox archive feature was only archiving some of the emails in a mailbox, so out of 400 messages, for example, the completed archived mailbox would only have 50 of them.

3) There's a useful feature the previous build had that got lost. When you attach a picture, then want to attach another one, it makes you find the folder from scratch again instead of opening up the last folder right away.

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions..

Since you have so many issues with Mail...

Launch Mail. From the Menu Bar, click Mail / Preferences.

Make note of all the preferences under each tab.

Close Mail.

Locate this file.

com.apple.Mail.plist

~/Library/Preferences.

Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.

Hopefully that will help...

This thread might offer help for GMail sync issues.

If you don't mind me asking, why would rebuilding to plist achieve any difference. The computer is brand new, and I just configured Mail preferences for the first time, so my guess is the plist was built according to my specs. It's not like it was held over form an old operating system. But if you think it would help, please explain why. I have eight separate accounts configured in Mail, so rebuilding them from scratch would take a while, and I want to make sure it is worth it.

Mac Mail is still sending my messages before I'm finished typing them and before I click send. Is it an issue with IMAP and gmail? A good example is I will start composing a message, finish composing, then click send. I've started copying myself on the email to see what happens. 2 versions are sent. The first has half my message on it, the second has the full message. Why is it sending before I click send?

No, the window remains. I don't even know it has sent out an incomplete copy until it shows up in my inbox. I just keep typing, but secretly it is sending out a copy already. Since I am copying myself, I am able to see the two messages it has sent. Furthermore, it seems to send the incomplete email even if I never send the complete one. In other words, even if I keep the complete message unsent as a draft, it seems to send the incomplete one while I am typing!
