Can't transfer pictures from iphone to PC

I am trying to download pictures from my iphone to my PC. I am not able to see my iphone on my PC. I look in Control Panel -> Scanners and Cameras, and I don't see the iphone listed (just my scanner). I also look under My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware Tab -> Device Manager -> Imaging Devices, but I only see my scaner. I tried reinstalling the Universal Serial Bus controller for apple, but now I don't see the entry anymore. I was told if you delete the USB controller and then plug in the iphone again, it would reinstall it. This didn't work, but I was not able to see the iphone before so I also need to re-install my apple USB controller. Very frustrated, please help.

Following on from this, is there any way i can transfer my photo albums from my iphone back to my pc?

Had to restore my pc back to factory settings losing all files, i foolishly thought i'd be able to recover all my photos etc from my iphone but i can only get those that were taken with the iphone.

Is there any way to get the other photos? is there an app that would help? The apple site is no help so hoping the forum will save the day!

Thanks

Jon

I have a similar issue.
I use to be able to connect by usb cable to my Iphone, the Microsoft Scanner and Camera wizard would pop up. I would then click on advanced users and copy the pictures across that I wanted.

Recently, i have tried on the same computer and tested with different computer and cables now the Microsoft Scanner and Camera wizard is:
Reading picture information for ages then says:
The computer cannot detect the scanner or camera. Please maje sure the device is turned on and is properly connected to the computer.

Any ideas? I go to my computer and Apple Iphone is showing?!?!?! Very confused.

Is there a solution that doesn't involve deleting photos that entered the photo roll through email??!?!

I have about 500 pictures with many sprinkled in there from email, it would be near impossible for me to have to go thru and id and delete all the email pics (not to mention it's not like it would be easy to go through my gmail over the past year and attempt to find them all again!)

Apple has to know about this mega problem right?!
