Can't transfer pictures from iphone to PC

I am trying to download pictures from my iphone to my PC. I am not able to see my iphone on my PC. I look in Control Panel -> Scanners and Cameras, and I don't see the iphone listed (just my scanner). I also look under My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware Tab -> Device Manager -> Imaging Devices, but I only see my scaner. I tried reinstalling the Universal Serial Bus controller for apple, but now I don't see the entry anymore. I was told if you delete the USB controller and then plug in the iphone again, it would reinstall it. This didn't work, but I was not able to see the iphone before so I also need to re-install my apple USB controller. Very frustrated, please help.

Deleting files solve my problem. But I don't have to delete all the photo sent to me via mail. I only delete photos I saved from Facebook .. like my friends contact pictures. After delete them, all are ok. I wonder if there is anything to do with copyright?

I'm on Windows 7 and until finding this forum, didn't realize what an issue downloading from iPhone 3GS to Windows has been for not just me.

After reading much of what was said, I went to my Picasa, thought I would see if while iPhone was plugged into computer, if Picasa would recognize it - and sure enough - in the IMPORT window it was came up "Import from iPhone 3GS".

It downloaded 243 pix and a couple videos in seconds.

It's the current Free version of Picasa at picasa.com
