Bottom Line...

Used 2.4 without a hitch to stream from two computers with seperate libraries. Upgraded to 3.0 then 3.0.1 and now my Apple TV is nothing but a worthless paper weight. Slow responding remote, artwork missing, album artwok merged, constantly errors out. I can't even browse my music, much less play it. Does anyone over there actually test these updates under multiple conditions before posting them??? What a crock of crap!!!

Any ideas on how to get 2.4 back because "as is" my ATV is worthless.

Hello all,

Hit Google and took a crash course on Patchstick, WinSCP and SSH...it is REALLY a shame that one has to go through all that just to get back to a working, previous firmware. 2.4 is back up and running and needless to say, I will be avoiding an update or two until Apple gets this mess straightened out.

Thanks for the vent space,

I am going to report tentative success with 3.0.1, but only after a factory restore then update. The key for me seems to have been iTunes 9.0.2; things seem to be working smoothly after that update.

I had been holding off on the iTunes update due to reported problems ( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2217792 ), and before I did it the Apple TV was giving all sorts of trouble, freezing or rebooting itself after a sync, while I was trying to browse around.

It could be that the prior version of iTunes was syncing something the Apple TV didn't like. It could be that I simply neglected to sync a troublesome file to the Apple TV this time around. It could be that the problems will return. I'm not sure.
