Mac Compatible Access Point

I bought a Linksys WAP54G access point to connect to a wired Linksys broadband router. I'm not sure if this access point is compatible with MAC. When I put the CD in and double clicked on the setup.exe, it didn't run. Would anyone know how to connect this access point using iMac or if there are other access points that are compatible with Mac.

Thank you very much for your help.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Well, if you take a look at the minimum requirements of this product (quickly found on the Linksys website), it plainly states

"Windows 2000 or XP to use the Setup Wizard"

So the included software most likely cannot be installed on Mac OS. It may, however, be usable if you can configure it manually without the use of the setup software. At least that's the case with most wireless routers - their software can't be installed, but they can be set up manually. I've never used a WAP, so I can't help here, but the included (or downloadable) manual should help.

As for others, it's best to do one's research before purchase; check for system requirements and/or send an email to the mfr asking relevant questions.

Have a glance through the manual and find out what the default IP of the unit is.

The Linksys boxes usually have a web interface for configuration...all mine came set to 192.168.1.245 from memory....but it's been a long time...default password was admin.

Your Mac is hopefully on the same 192.168.1.x subnet. You can check or change this from System Preferences-> Network of course.

It's probably set to Automatic but you can see the address
