ATV not resume from shutdown

Try connecting the HDMI directly between the tv and the tv.

FWIW I experience the same symptoms and have a Yamaha amp
I am just not shutting it down now...

By shutting it down I assume you mean putting it in stand by.

I understand stand by saves around 3-4 watts, so I don't think you have a lot to worry about.

It is really frustrating...

I have an HDMI NAD Amplifier.

Same problem with a Denon 4810ci receiver. Went back to component for AppleTV. Fortunately the Denon can convert the component from the AppleTV out to the TV via HDMI. So far .. no more resume issues .... so far ! 😉

Same Problem here,

Apple TV connected to Yamaha RX V 2600. Worked for over 1 year without Problems with Software 2.x (i did all Updates).

Now Apple TV 3.0 and 3.0.1 does not wake up after Standby anymore. The Front LED is also not flashing when in Standby. When i wait a while Screen switches black from blue (blue is my Philips "no signal screen) and the ATV starts flashing the LED orange and reboots. Afterwards i get a Language Selection Screen and i can restart, diagnose or do a Factory reset on the ATV.

This is very bad... only solution is powering off and on the ATV or to wait until it reboots...

I have exactly the same problem. Using belkin hdmi switch. just bought new apple tv 160gb. also have popcorn hour. UI on appletv wins hands down but playability and bugs just very very very DISAPPOINTING.

Same problem here, see my posts on this forum. My equipment include a Sony AV receiver, a Panasonic HDTV. My ATV was first connected to the receiver thru and XtrmeMac HDMI switch which I took off thinking it may be the cause, and connected directly thru the receiver. Just the mere fact of switching HDMI will render the screen black (no signal form ATV). MY ATV is version first gen version 1 and has worked fine thru all upgrades until 3/3.01. This has been very frustrating and the only solution I can come up with is to fashion an easy way to power ATV off and on after each use. I am hoping for a quick reliable fix for this disastrous upgrade form apple.

Same problem here, when I switch to another input on my Yamaha 1800 amp and switch back the Apple TV won't wake up.

The Samsung TV says 'mode not supported'. The only way to get it going again is to unplug and plug back in the Apple TV.

This is very frustrating, I keep raving onto my freinds about my great set up - won't be doing that if this problem isn't sorted out!

Let's start a count up of how long will able allow this debacle to go on before it's resolved!

Same problem here with the last sw update, after shutdown the atv becomes a brick until power is cycled. Maybe one day I will learn to ignore updates...

Another "Same here" I'm afraid.

Was OK before the 3.0.1 update and now I have to power cycle. It's definitely a bug.
