iSight not working?

Ok, I've looked through everything and tried the troubleshooting provided. I checked out the system, uninstalled programs, restarted my Mac, etc., and I'm not sure what the issue is. iSight was working perfectly fine, and then all of a sudden on Thursday it would not connect when I opened Photobooth. It is still not working with that, Skype, iChat, or any other program. It says I do not have a camera on this computer. I also tried making a new account to check the setup, and still nothing.

Not really sure what else I can do short of calling Apple...any other suggestions?

Hi EZJim
unfortunately none of the solutions posted, worked for me.
I took it to the Mac Center and they couldn't find the solution either.
Do you have any additional suggestions?

Thanks a lot
Guillermo

Welcome to Discussions, Guillermo

You do not say specifically what is wrong, but, if you mean that your iSight does not respond to any of the suggestions I have previously posted, your options are severely limited.

I am not exactly certain what a "Mac Center" is, but you may mean your Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Apple Authorized Distributor (AAD) like the one that can be located from this page:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1434

If an AASP or AAD can economically repair your Mac so its iSight works, the only available remaining choice you seem to have is whether to:
• use your iMac without a webcam,

• use a compatible external camera, or

• use a different computer with a working camera.

Hi Jim, i have some trouble with my built in isight. I have a 2006 iMac core duo

I was using photo booth, and i turn off the computer but i didnt close photo booth, so when i turn it on, non of the programs recognize the isight, and it doesnt apear on the system profile eather ways.

The way i turn off the computer is by pressing the control, option and command buttons and then pressing the eject key. That was the way i turned off the computer when i had the photo booth open.

I've tried all the possible ways that i find on the discussions pannel to aranged the problem but non has work.

Can you help me some way?

Thanks!

Welcome to Discussions, bzblues.

(1) To determine the source of your iSight trouble so you know what to fix, start with

Apple's "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

If the testing suggested there shows that your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.

However, if your built-in iSight still does not work after carefully following all relevant suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, and if your built-in iSight does show as a USB device in your Mac's System Profiler, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

(2) FYI, I would not think that having an app open when shutting down your Mac as per its instruction manual would cause a problem. I often do so, and it has never caused problems for me. However, if you have any other problems with files that will not open or folders or files that you cannot find, perhaps even after you get iSight working, use your Mac's Disk&Utility to "repair permissions". If the problem(s) persist(s), follow the instructions in DU's Help and "repair your startup disk".

Do not be in a hurry. If many repairs are needed, and particularly if this is the first time you have repaired them, either of these repairs can take a long time (many minutes to several hours.) Let each process run until DU reports you that it is finished.

Note that you use your Leopard Install DVD to repair the startup disk, but you repair permissions when started from your Mac's normal startup disk. If you need help with disk repair, see this page:
