Can't type in new blank documents

I've probably done something incredibly stupid but I'm relatively new to Macs and Pages...

Anyway, in the last few days, when I create a new blank Pages document, I no longer get a cursor/insertion point and can't thus type into the document. What I can do is paste some text into a blank document and go from there, but this is not a good way of working!

Very grateful for any ideas.

Hi Ade-oh! I will first advise you to download the PagesUserGuide. Click on that name in the Pages Help menu. It has a lot of info about Pages.

Your problem probably arises from that there are to types of blank documents in Pages. One Word Processing and one Page Layout document. The latter doesn't give you any the cursor as all text are written in Text boxes. You can see beside the document name what type you have opened.

If this isn't the problem and you are knowing what you are doing it could be that you haven't the latest Pages (iWork) update. It is now 4.0.3.

It could also be that you have to delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist in the Preference folder in the Library in your home folder, the one with the house.
