I have an iMac that I am using as a Kiosk. I'd like to use energy saver to turn it off at night on a schedule. When the computer restarts in the morning, I'd like it to open an iPhoto slideshow on reboot. Is this possible?
What you might be able to do is export the slideshow as a QuickTime movie and then add that movie to the Log In items. (System Preferences -> Accounts)
You can set up slideshow settings for an album and then play this album's slideshow automatically, using an Automator script, saved as an application (perhaps this can be done with an AppleScript script, too).
Place the Automator application in your login startup list and it should do the trick.
Here's a video screenshot of it in action.. You will need to set the movie to open with Desktop Movie Player in its Info pane and then set the movie to play upon booting in the System/Accounts/Login Items pane.
All of these are great. I generally just set the screen saver to pictures and have that come on. But for this installation (art show) the user wants to show a specific slideshow with the theme.

Start a slideshow automatically on boot?
