Living overseas but need to access the U.S. iTunes store

I am a U.S. citizen with a valid U.S. address and a valid U.S. credit card. However, I currently live overseas in Qatar (Middle East) and will be here for another year or two.

I'm trying to set up an account, but the iTunes store defaults to Arabic (and presumably not the U.S. store).

Any idea on how I can get the iTunes store to provide me with the option to set up a U.S. account?

For what it's worth, I contacted Apple about the issue. They got to me after we had already resolved the situation, but it's worth noting that Apple gave me step-by-step instructions on how to do it, so I'm wondering if there's some sort of "exception" for people in my situation. 🙂

No. Apple is a B I G company and not every issue is discussed and explained to everyone.
I'd leave it be at this point and do what works for you.

I had the same problem in South America. I reinstalled iTunes and authorized my computer again and it worked fine. Hope this helps.
