Enable USB in Safe Mode?

I was a victim of the 10.6.2 update which left me waiting on a crossed out circle on boot. I can get into Safe Mode but I only have a DMG of my Snow Leopard CD cause I'm on the road and the original is at home. Can anyone tell me how to turn USB on in Safe Mode so I can burn this to my thumb drive to reinstall SL?

I believe that's essentially a unapproved approach that is 'conversation restricted' around here, sorry.

Did you update via Software Update or did you download the combo? If you used Software Update, get the Combo updater instead and re-apply:

Also, try resetting some of the hardware involved (PRAM~NVRAM). See this Apple KB for details, etc.:

Can't hurt to try, and apparently this has helped others recently.

Failing that, take it to an Apple Store and ask staff there for assistance.
