Paul_31,
I've checked this and I don't quailify.
Cheers,
Derek.
I have received mi iMac with replaced Hard drive, now works perfectly and very very quiet. The HD model is:
APPLE HDD HUA722010CLA330
So the wrong hard disk ST31000528AS will be replaced with a new type: HUA722010CLA330. However the new drive is a 2.5". What about speed differences?
You can choose to put your disk to sleep after 1 minute using this tool
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20070163-263.html
and wait until your HDD stop.
NikonMan13, please find your HDD icon in Finder, right-click it and choose Eject. Will the noise stop?
No DizzyDown, it did not help eject my internal drive 2 (the main hd i cant eject).
But i have linked to a file with the noise here!
and.. if your noise is changing its volume to louder then you probably need to contact the Apple service to replace it.
HD "funny" noise started again, although my iMac was on the replacement program and I had my HD replaced. I should take more often back-ups
I have a situation similar to @akisok and solved it after download and install http://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control. Set the SSD to Ambient Sensor and the noise ends.
