Cannot close windows by mouse-click on red button

Hi everybody,

I am very confused and nobody could help me at this point. Like described in the subject, I very often cannot close open windows by clicking on the red button. Its like the window is not active. When I open Mail and some Safari browsers and I want to close them one after the other, it only closes the first window and then its like the next window is inactive. First I have to click somewhere else and then I can close the next window.

It has nothing to do with the mouse. It is also when I use the touchpad. I have already tried to create a new user and even deletet my SSD and reinstalled Snow Leopard but I always have the same Problems after a few hours.

Can anybody help me?

Thanx

Macbook Pro 13", Mac OS X (10.6.2), 4 GB Ram + SSD

I am the same problem and searching in this forum I discovered that there are various topic opened for this problem (that concerns different machines, not just the last MBP like mine). Anyway, in this topic http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10120006&#10120006 maybe I found a solution. Guys check your "double click" speed in the preference panel. Probably, the problem arise if this speed is too slow. I put it almost to the maximum value and the problem seems disappear (for now). I hope it works.

I am also experiencing really unreliable clicking in multiple applications, but most particularly in Chrome when trying to open/close a tab and in all windows when trying to close it using the red close button. So in both cases on the Finder toolbar area.

I am also able to replicate the second issue 100% of the time. If I move my cursor between the yellow 'minimize' and red 'close' buttons on any Finder window and click, then move to either of the red or yellow buttons, no clicks register... EVER. I have to move the cursor away for a second, and then try again, and sometimes even this doesn't work.

I've tried with multiple mice, and the track pad, with both tap-to-click and press-to-click. So I am positive this is not a hardware issue. I have also deleted preferences files for both the Finder and Dock.

Is any one else able to replicate the behavior above?

Hoping to hear from someone at Apple hear or I'll have to take my machine down to the Apple Store.
