Software Update Server 10.6.2 not providing all updates

Server running with 10.5.8 everything is working perfect.

Under 10.6.2 with SUS not all updates are providing to the user with 10.6.X and 10.5.8 clients. In the Log file there are no errors and all updates are downloaded and on.

With 10.5.8 clients using the Apple SUS it need now 5 updates. But with our SUS server the Safari v4.0.4 is missing. (On the server in Software Update click on Choose Version there are three versions of Safari and seemed OK)

With 10.6.2 clients using the Apple SUS it need now 2 updates. (HP Printer Drivers Update and Safari 4.0.4) But with our SUS server it says that there are no necessary update available.

If you disable all updates in the overview there is 1 update enabled but in Updates everything is disabled.

Is this a software bug?

With regard to 10.6.4 fixing issues where clients don't see enabled updates, or updates previously shown as downloaded and enabled suddenly showing as not downloaded after enabling something else and saving, no. 10.6.4 does not appear to have resolved that/those problems for me.

I will rebuild the list again later, just to be sure it isn't some old (</=10.6.3) corruption still stuck...

I ran repair permissions on the boot volume and it fixed a privileges issue with the swupd.config (user was blah, should be blahblah), but manual update list did not seem to fix anything.

This morning (the day after repair perms), all new updates (10.6.4, security update, iTunes) were unchecked. I checked them and saved, and now the clients can see the updates. So over night it seems to have settled out the problems I was seeing. Time will tell, of course, but keep a good thought!

I am having the same issue.
Brand new server, just installed the 10.6.4 v1.1 (posted July 22 2010) hoping it would fix the issue but it seems that the software update server can only serve EITHER 10.5 OR 10.6 clients - not both for many different apps!

This is pathetic - what am I supposed to do - keep watching the server until I see a client hit it and figure out what OS it's running and quickly enable the correct one?

Grrr....

Having just completely reset my SUS server (wiped /etc/swupd and /var/db/swupd) and then messing with settings for a bit, I finally have it working correctly.

One thing that I discovered along the way is that clients are supposed to use different URL's for SUS dependent on their OS version. For a while, I was using the generic URL and getting frustrated that I couldn't get the updates - once I tweaked the URL on my managed clients to match their OS version, everything worked just fine (I use Computer Groups in Workgroup Manager to achieve this). Except for the Safari 5.01 update - there were 3 versions of that and I think I messed up selecting one, eventually I got it right.

As of now, I have SUS downloading All New and Automatically Enable Updates. Initially I had everything off and just pulled the updates for all of this year before switching to auto mode.

The different URLs are on Page 89 of the System Imaging and Software Update Admin Guide.

Hope this helps!

I'm hoping I'm only a few tweaks away!
I've deleted everything in those directories, have all my clents pointing at the correct URL (the10.5 boxes successfully pull down the safari update when I enable the 37MB version and the 10.6 get the 49MB version when I enable that). I've turned on enable all, re-downloaded 30GB of updates and they still won't both be served - only one works.

Any other ideas?
