No service - (Country: Belgium, Operator: Proximus)

Hello Apple,

I have a problem with my one year old iPhone 3G (white, 16gb). Since a week (max 2 weeks), I noticed a huge decrease in signal strength.

Where I used to have 5 bars, I get 2.
Where I used to have 3 bars (or less), I get the "no service" label.

Those are the things I already did, without any succes:
- Reset my iPhone in iTunes (installed 3.1.2 again and put my stuff back with the backup)
- Reset all (network)settings
- Went to the Proximus-store for a new SIM-card (latest generation).
- Called Proximus if they know a solution for this problem. They say it's due an update from apple (but I installed 3.2.1 from the release (more then a month ago)).

It's very frustrating to miss important calls because of this. Now I use another phone, without any problems. But I want my iPhone back ... I don't think it's a hardware problem, because my father has exact the same problem with his iPhone 3GS (white, 32Gb).

I really hope to find a solution. Thank you in advance.

Hi Mackjenzie,

This isn't an Apple forum, the people here are users just like yourself. Apple won't answer questions in the forum.

The description sounds like you have done most of the things that you should do to 'fix' the phone. The only other thing that might help is to restore the phone back to the factory settings and see if it helps.

It sounds like your provider is blaming Apple, and saying that the 3.1.2 upgrade caused the problem, have you spoken to Apple (at an Apple store or via paid help)? It might help to go to the provider and insist that they call Apple with you in the store - or you can call the Apple store at the provider location with your other phone. If you can get them to talk to each other while you are there they might be forced to solve the problem for you, rather than passing you back and forth between them.
