How to change volume of playing Video?

Hello everybody,

I have a new iPhone 3Gs and just recorded a video. When I am playing the video on my iPhone, everything works fine, except that I am not able to adjust the volume of the playing video. It is pretty loud and the volume controls on the side of the phone only change the ringing volume of the phone but not the volume while the video is playing. Am I missing something simple here or is there no way to change the playing volume of the video on my iPhone?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

I have thought of that as well, however, there is no volume slider, or at least I don't see one. On the top is only the slider to go back and forth in the video (and the bar to go back to the camera roll), and at the bottom there is only the option to export the video in an email/MMS, to go back one photo/video and to pause/delete the video.

When I play videos on youtube etc. the volume slider is there, but not when I play videos from the camera roll that I have recorded myself. Can anybody help me out please?

Thanks for the reply but as I mentioned in my first post: "the volume controls on the side of the phone only change the ringing volume of the phone but not the volume while the video is playing".

For youtube videos, iPod music, podcasts etc. I can adjust the volume just fine (either with the slider which comes up when I tap the screen or with the buttons on the side of the phone) but for videos on the camera roll I recorded myself with the 3Gs it's just not possible for me to adjust the volume at all, there is no slider and the buttons on the side of the phone don't change the volume either. Can anybody else help or am I the only one with this problem on my 3Gs?

Well, that's the only volume adjustment for videos you record yourself. Have you tried repeatedly pressing the down volume control in case it might be "stuck"? Or, you could try a simple reset & see if that fixes the problem, you won't lose any settings or data:

Reset: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at same time, keep pressing until the apple logo appears(ignore the slide to power off), then release.

To adjust the volume, use the buttons on the side of iPhone. Volume up. Volume down. To set a volume limit for music and videos on iPhone: Choose Music > Volume Limit and drag the slider to adjust the maximum volume. Tap Lock Volume Limit to assign a code to prevent the setting from being changed. Setting a volume limit only limits the volume of music (including podcasts and audiobooks) and videos (including rented movies), and only when headphones, earphones, or speakers are connected to the headphones port on iPhone.

Thanks for the reset advice, I just did that and suddenly it works, now it recognizes it is in playback mode and changes the volume output of the video and not the ringer when I push the buttons on the side of the phone while I play the video!

I already thought I was just too stupid to find the right button/slider but apparently it was just a bug ^^

Thanks a lot and have a nice day!

Mia
