I put in a CD and it does not read or come up on the desktop. I hit the eject button but it doesn't eject. (Did I put in the CD upside down? Could very well be. Argh!) Anyhow is there a way to force eject a CD when it doesn't show up?
When you put the disc into your optical drive, the label side should always be on the top facing you. Restart the computer and hold down the eject button until the computer reboots. That should eject the disc.
So the only way to eject a CD that the computer isn't reading is to shut it down and reboot? I've been loading a number of CD's into iTunes, and this is happening quite a bit. Is it potentially an issue with the optical drive? My computer is only a couple of months old. It's really a pain to reboot the computer every 5 CD's or so.
If the disc does not appear on the Desktop after ejecting it, either with the Eject key or using the Eject button in iTunes, a restart may be the only option. I tend to wait a few minutes and make sure the disc doesn't eventually eject (sometimes with repeated pushed of the Eject button to spur things along) as discs will hang waiting to eject from time to time.
