How do I edit a plist file in Terminal and save the changes ?

The file is SystemVersion.plist

 MacBook Pro 17",  MacBook 2.0 Ghz, Mac OS X (10.5.8), iPod Touch 1st Gen 3.1.2

Hi

You have to have a password set for the local admin account for this to work:

sudo nano /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist

Make your changes by navigating to the relevant place using the arrow keys. Control+o (WriteOut) will write the change. You'll be asked to write the file. A carriage return should do this. Control+x will exit from nano. It's always a good idea to make a back up of the file first. Something like:

sudo cp -R /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist.bak

Nano is one of many terminal editors you could have used? Issuing man nano should tell you more.
