I've ordered it through a third party from Hungary (we don't have an Apple store here). Its a 27" i7. When I got tired of waiting, I asked another reseller how long would it take for them to get one, and they said that there are virtually no 27" iMacs in whole Europe, and that Europe will start getting those around the middle of March. I cannot say I'm happy...

Haha! Lucky you! At least you know when you'll get it. I finally made my decision to try out a mac (I've been using only PCs until now), but it seems Apple won't let me. I ordered mine on the 16th of November (2009), and today being the 11th of February, I still don't know when will I get it. Not a clue. And my home PC is barely moving recently, I REALLY need a new machine. I swear, if I knew I had to wait this long (I still don't know how long the wait is going to be), I would have bought a PC.

Hello VVZ. I know exactly how you feel. My 27" i7 iMac was ordered through our local AAR on November 16th also. I knew ahead of time that it would be a long wait, since Apple apparently gives priority to online purchases. My iMac finally arrived at my doorstep after 69 days; just a day shy of ten weeks.

It sounds like some of you folks in Europe are even lower on Apple's priority scale than we are . . . or perhaps it has something to do with the rumored shortage of LCD panels in Europe. I honestly don't know.

Does it at least work as it should? Any problems with it? I'm reading on gizmodo that Apple is starting to ship the i7 iMacs again, after a rumored production halt. I'm hoping that if I had to wait this long, at least I'll get the fixed version, fixed right at production, not through a bunch of patches.

I advise you to be very judicious regarding what you choose to believe on the gizmodo site. The fellow there -- along with all of the Windows users who visit that site -- obviously have an axe to grind against Apple.

Concerning my own machine, as I've mentioned in the "flicker" and "yellow tinge" threads, while my iMac has never experienced the flicker -- I haven't even installed the display update of several days ago -- I do have three dead screen pixels, as well dead iSight pixels, plus a slight case of the yellow tinge.

Overall, it is a beautiful, powerful, fast machine. Unless the yellow tinge worsens, I intend to keep it. If I am at some point offered an LCD panel replacement, I may accept that.

That may be, but in this case I found the article objective enough, and even read the same things on several other places. An authorized reseller confirmed that we won't see i7 iMacs in Europe for quite a while... which really ****** me off... and if I ever get mine and find the same problems you have, I swear I'll never get another Mac. I do own an iPhone and I'm happy with it, but this iMac stuffis really a deal-breaker for me... I dont' understand how can you be so blunt about the yellow tint, not to mention the dead pixels. On a 2159€ machine, I just won't accept those.

Well, as I have said a number of times now in these threads, the three dead pixels are off to the side; and unless I am viewing something with a large white area, or look really hard to find them, I don't even notice that they are there.

Regarding the dead pixels on the iSight camera, again, in the over three weeks that I have now had this machine, I have never even used it, other than to test it; and I doubt that I will be using the iSight much in the future, so it is basically a non-issue with me.

Likewise, the yellow tinge is very slight, and at an acceptable level in my view. In fact, as I explained in the yellow tinge thread, if I place my eyes level with the lower left or the lower right corner of the screen, I can't even see it. That's why I've begun to refer to it as an effect that is created by the LCD technology.

In short, on my machine, it is so slight that it just isn't worth the hassle of undergoing so much frustration by becoming trapped in the replacement cycle, as so many others have done. My peace of mind is simply more important than fretting over it.

If Apple eventually offers a clear, proven solution to totally eliminate the yellow tinge, then I will consider it. Until then, I will continue to enjoy this awesome machine.

Well you can arguably say that I made my order at the end of the year, but it isn't the end of the year any more, and I'm still waiting. I just got a mail from the reseller that I order my i7 iMac from. They say that Apple is practically incapable of shipping 27" iMacs, and they are actually buying them back in some countries. They also said that Apple has stopped the production line, which kinda' ****** me off, since Apple has officially denied this, so why are they (the reseller) using this as an argument? I'm not trying to spread rumors, this is what I got from the reseller.

Anyway, as soon as the new MacBook Pros or Mac Pros come out, if the iMacs still don't ship I'm getting one of those, and cancel the iMac.

Warren: I can admire that in you. But I can't live with dead pixels. I don't even have to see them at all. If I know they're there, I'm utterly annoyed.

Hello again VVZ,

I am assuming that the email from your reseller is in Hungarian; otherwise, if it were in English, it would be interesting for some of us here to see exactly what your reseller had to say verbatim.

There are so many rumors, speculations and contradicting stories and accounts floating around these days -- even from Apple techs and reps according to some people -- that it is very difficult for us to know exactly what to believe.

If Apple would simply step forward, and demonstrate a little bit of humility and honesty, by telling us all exactly what is going on, it would certainly contribute a lot towards alleviating this confusing situation; but perhaps by means of the rumor mill, Apple is protecting itself.

It seems that Apple's way of making public statements when it comes to situations like this, is through its actions. For example, while Apple never made a public statement regarding the screen flicker problem, they certainly spoke loudly by finally resolving the issue via the second firmware update . . . at least for most people it seems.

I'm sure that everyone who has had the screen flicker problem resolved is very appreciative of Apple's actions, but public statements also have their place as well, and can serve to calm the masses.

I'm keeping my eyes open for those as well. If they show up before my iMac (93 days and counting... thank you very much, Apple!), I'm getting one of those and I'm canceling my iMac. BestBuy did some things that got people think the release is imminent. I do think they should be out this month, or first half of March.

On a side note, please read the topic title before posting. This is about quad core iMacs.
