Hi Steven, try Option + Eject, if jumpers are set to Cable Select that should work.

Might be Option + F12 if you don't have an Eject key.

# In the Finder, choose Customize Toolbar from the View menu. In the window that appears, drag the Eject button to the toolbar, then click the Done button. After following these steps, the Eject button will appear in a Finder window toolbar—in the Finder window, select the disc you want to eject and click the Eject button in the toolbar.
# Click the eject button in iTunes.
# Use the Eject menu bar item. If the computer has two optical drives installed, you will be given a choice of which drive to open.
To show this menu bar item:

1. From the Finder's Go menu, choose Go to Folder.
2. Type or paste: /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras
3. In the Menu Extras folder, double-click "Eject.menu".

Hi there,
I have tried these options but none of them seem to work. Does it matter that my G5 is Intel based?
I tried holding option/eject, but it ejects the top on only.

I option to customize toolbar wont come up when I go to finder...
When I double click on the eject.menu file in menu extras nothing happens...

Anything I can do otherwise to open up the second optical drive??

Thanks again,
Steven

OK, just for the record, you do not have a G5, (PPC/IBM), you have a MacPro if it's Intel powered, they look the same outside.

At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, click on the text below Mac OS X where it says Version 10.4.x and report the Build# please.

Then click on More Info>Hardware and report this upto *but not including the Serial#*...

Hardware Overview:

Machine Name: Power Mac G5 Quad
Machine Model: PowerMac11,2
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (1.1)
Number Of CPUs: 4
CPU Speed: 2.5 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 10 GB
Bus Speed: 1.25 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.7f1

I opened it up and both drives are installed together...not sure what is going on?

Then when you're in More Info above, click the little triangle beside Hardware if need be, then click on Disc Burning, do 2 show up there?
