Alert - Youtube has reported an error

So I've been using iMovie for about 5 months or so. I've had the odd problem, but have been able to fix it myself. But I just don't know what to do here. Every time I go to upload to YouTube from iMovie, iMovie says "Alert - Youtube has reported an error". I started over, still the same error. Google searched and no dice. I know I can easily export and then use Safari to upload, but iMovie is so much nicer.

Any help would be appreciated. I've got hundreds of subscribers and fans that want these videos uploaded :P

I have seen scores of posts both here and elsewhere over the past year about this problem but no solutions.
Personally I always use the YouTube uploader.
Export your movies to QuickTime from iMovie
You then have a choice in which codec to use (mpeg4/h.264 etc) which can influence file sizes.
I started doing this before iMovie had the capability of exporting in HD and this method has never failed.
Sure it's an extra step or two but it works.
Log into your YouTube account from your web browser and upload from there. If you have more than one movie, just queue them and upload over night.

I've seen advice to remove the account name from imovie, then add a new one.
I've experimented with multiple different accounts.

My ultimate solution was this:
the Youtube account name i gave iMovie was correct, but there was an EMAIL ADDRESS associated with the account... Using THAT ADDRESS instead of the account name allowed the upload to proceed just fine.

Unlink your YouTube username and password to Googles user names and passwords. In other words, if Google allows you automatic login to YouTube using a gmail account, unlink these accounts from each other and log into YouTube with a username and password you have either already created or create a new account without linking to googles accounts.

Make them separate accounts. To do this you have to be logged into YouTube and unlink the accounts under Account>Email Options. (you may have to go back to YouTube depending on what you did and make sure it has a valid email for you immediately after you do this or it will stop you from uploading new videos)

This worked for me, I simply unlinked my accounts and iMovie 09 began to immediately upload after hours of frustration. Oddly I have never had this problem before and have successfully uploaded for almost a year without having to unlink the accounts, but hey, it worked!

Thank You!! This problem just started for me about a week ago. At first I thought You Tube was experiencing issues and dismissed it. I finally got fed up tonight and Googled for solutions and found this thread.

I tired changing the user name within iMovie for my You Tube account to my email address, and just got an error message that the user name is incorrect.

I then unlinked my You Tube account from my Google account (which have been linked for months) and presto! The export from iMovie to You Tube is working again!
