I tried to transfer music from old LPs into iTunes using ION Profile Pro turntable.
All seemed to go OK but when I tried to play back using iTunes there was no sound.
I tried to convert to AAC and AIFF but no luck. Any answers ?
I think I have the fix:
1. Launch System Preferences
2. Select "Sound"
3. Select "Input"
4. Select "USB Audio Codec" instead of "Line In"
5. Quit System Preferences
6. You'll need to re-record the tracks from the USB turntable. They should play back in iTunes now.
I received an ION USB turntable and have exactly the same problem. The connection and importing process is very straightforward but the music doesn't play back in iTunes.
I followed all those steps as well and have no problems with play back. My issue is the built in microphone no longer works and people on the other end of iChat can't hear me.
You need to record the songs using some application other than iTunes sinc eiTunes is n ot a recording app.
After you have recorded the songs, you add them to iTunes or the application used will add them to iTunes.
I can record well from record to iTunes, but i'm not sure if it is recording directly or through the Mac's built-in mic. I discovered that the song I 'jammed along with' while it was recording ALSO recorded my guitar! How do I turn off the internal mic?
I mis-spoke...I recorded from my ION turntable with the EZ Audio Converter application, then transfered the recorded files into iTunes. But in the recording process it somehow was also recording sounds through a mic (obviously the built-in mic on my MAcBook. I still haven't found a way to turn that off during an LP coverting session.
One of the best solutions you can use is *+Audio Hijack Pro+* which will record anything from any source and
Fission to edit out any unwanted sound from your recording. *You can get this from Rogue Amoeba software*.
I use these two little apps to rip all my vinyl albums to iTunes. They may be inexpensive apps but are amazingly sophisticated and so worth the money (around $35).
Once your *Ion USB turntable* is connected to a spare USB port, select +USB Audio Codec+ as your input source. Works a treat.
OK, I've configured my Audio/MIDI Setup and System Preferences per the operating instructions for my Ion USBTT. I can see the input registering onscreen in my Systems/Sound folder, but no sound via output. Output is my headphones jack to my home system, which works fine for every other application, ie iTunes, etc. Thoughts?
