free ODBC driver

I use a lot FileMaker and MySQL, but there have been problems reported with MySQL Connector on Snow Leopard. The only supported ODBC driver on Snow Leopard is now by Actual Technologies, which is not free:

Is there any workaround for MySQL ODBC 5.1 on Snow Leopard? I stuck with ODBC Error in FileMaker: mysqld-5.5.0-m2: Table doesn't exist.

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.6.2), ODBC Administrator Tool 1.0; MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.1; FileMaker Pro Advanced 10.0v3

I am having the same problem ("Table doesn't exist") and guess what- the actual tech. driver seems to not work with
Snow Leopard either. When I try to add a MYSQL table to Filemaker 9 or 10, Filemaker crashes everytime.

I tried the MYSQL connector in Windows and it works perfectly.

I'm not sure I understand... How can you say the driver works for you AND you get the same error message?

I'm getting the error in Filemaker but I can see the problem. It's trying to get a table with dbname.dbname instead of dbname.tablename. Not sure what's causing that.

Okay I went and got a 30 day trial of the Actual driver and get the same error so I don't think it's the ODBC driver but rather a bug in Filemaker itself.

The only problem with the "Actual" drivers is that the connections within Filemaker don't translate to the filemaker on windows.

For my solution I needed to develop on mac and deploy on windows. I ended up doing development in a VM on my mac.

Also, looks like there's still no update on this issue.

This is a bug that is in Filemaker and has not been resolved in Filemaker 11 as well. I have verified this by using neooffice to connect to my database and tables with out issues.

Had the same problem and I think I have resolved the issue: FileMaker does make Problems if the DSN has anything but alphanumeric characters (like a space!). At least that worked for me.

Seacookie, so you got the mysql.com odbc driver to work with filemaker? What version of filemaker did you use?
