Intermitent beeping sound on video recording playback - Part 3

Nano 5th Gen beeping noise on video/audio recording - Part 3, this time I've imported the audio track into Audacity to you can clearly see the approx 6 second interval and 4 spikes. I have gone through the 5R process recommended on the Apple site but as this shows, the results are the same. Watch and listen to video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5mP-1uIL9M (the waveform shows clearly the 6 second interval, though the sound quality is not god, sorry)

Ditto this report for me too.
Also, thanks for the great information shared here as it describes the exact same defect on my nano_5th gen when using video recording. Here's what I've noticed, two destinct audio episodes, the first is a faint ringing that sounds like an old school telephone ringing and the second is a louder high pitched beeping sound that comes in a series of 5 rapid beeping episodes.
These audio defects come in predictable and continuous patterns, e.g.

6 seconds - approx interval between 'ringer' episodes
15 seconds - approx interval between 'beep' episodes

Looks like I'll be taking this defective model back to Costco. Hope the next one I get is a properly functioning version. Happy to let Costco duke it out with Apple.

I have been through 10 ipod 5g nano 16gb black units. Apparently, each one of them has the same "beeping" anomaly while recording video or audio. It appears to be an error with the microphone of the unit. I think that it would be prudent to inform Apple of these problems and/or issues. However, I was more so displeased with the exceptionally poor and/or inadequate build quality, or lack thereof, regarding the new nano's. I absolutely love the new features, but most, if not all, of the units that I have had were defective in terms of the following: discolouration of paint, dents or chips of paint missing from display periphery or from upper/lower borders, etc... In my opinion, an item costing 200 USD shouldn't have any visible physical anomalies or defects (especially prior to unpackaging said item). I even observed one unit that appeared to have a "piece of grass" inside its case. This is simply ridiculous and unacceptable to any consumer of Apple products (or for any other electronic products, for that matter). The "beeping" noise (in addition to other random mechanical and/or electronic noises) is manifestly evident on all of my previous 5g nano recordings with regard to both video and audio. Admittedly, the absolute failure of manufacturing inspection, or lack thereof, concerning these units is an utter disgrace and a travesty. This is primarily why I recouped my money from this venture in order to rechannel it toward the future purchase of an iPod Touch 64gb. I may attempt to repurchase the nano by the end of this month or during the following month, and I would certainly like to have better success while doing so.

I do not believe that any of the bestbuy replacements "do not have this beeping noise." I specifically detected the same extraneous mechanical and/or beeping noises on every unit which I had "replaced" (and I had been through a total of 10 of them). The product is DEFECTIVE, and until apple addresses this issue by correcting their exceptionally poor and inadequate build quality, then this will continue unabated. There is absolutely zero indication that this product was even properly analyzed and/or evaluated before production, otherwise these patent malfunctions would not have occurred in the first place. Therefore, I will wait a few months until these problems are fully resolved and eliminated. That is all.

I think that it is patently idiotic to not return the defective ipod video nano. I have zero distinct desire to hear intermittent "beeping" or other extraneous "mechanical noises" in my videos. Even the three videos that I did take with the nano, I found to be fukcing annoying and obnoxious. If you prefer poor and/or shi_tty video and/or audio quality with your videos, then, by all means, retain a defective product. This is simply a question of subjective user preference. Personally, however, I think that it is absurd to spend 200 USD on a malfunctioning and/or defective product, and I do sincerely believe that most serious electronics consumers would completely agree.
