I have been through 10 ipod 5g nano 16gb black units. Apparently, each one of them has the same "beeping" anomaly while recording video or audio. It appears to be an error with the microphone of the unit. I think that it would be prudent to inform Apple of these problems and/or issues. However, I was more so displeased with the exceptionally poor and/or inadequate build quality, or lack thereof, regarding the new nano's. I absolutely love the new features, but most, if not all, of the units that I have had were defective in terms of the following: discolouration of paint, dents or chips of paint missing from display periphery or from upper/lower borders, etc... In my opinion, an item costing 200 USD shouldn't have any visible physical anomalies or defects (especially prior to unpackaging said item). I even observed one unit that appeared to have a "piece of grass" inside its case. This is simply ridiculous and unacceptable to any consumer of Apple products (or for any other electronic products, for that matter). The "beeping" noise (in addition to other random mechanical and/or electronic noises) is manifestly evident on all of my previous 5g nano recordings with regard to both video and audio. Admittedly, the absolute failure of manufacturing inspection, or lack thereof, concerning these units is an utter disgrace and a travesty. This is primarily why I recouped my money from this venture in order to rechannel it toward the future purchase of an iPod Touch 64gb. I may attempt to repurchase the nano by the end of this month or during the following month, and I would certainly like to have better success while doing so.
