Driver for JVC GR-DF420E video camera (tapes)

Could anyone please help me find a driver for this camera? Mac and I movie does not recognize the camera with the firewire 800 cable. Camera is plugged in (not on battery). I put the camera on play back or on camera, no results so far. The camera communicates nicely with the HP-notebook, so the firewire port must be OK. On the JVC site I cannot find any drivers to download, just manuals.
The Apple support team (Apple care protection plan) and the Apple Shop in Groningen refer me to JVC.

iMac 24" 2.66 SD, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 4 Gig

Hi there,
Thanks for the referral, but this thread does not solve the problem. JVC claims they have no drivers/software for Mac. But if Windows XP has its own drivers, why doesn't Apple supply a decent solution to connect this camera - not really antique as it is... - with the FireWire/iMac?
How can I pass this on to someone in charge within the Apple corporation?

The drivers are really the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Have you contacted JVC tech support?
