We have 2 iPod 4th gen nano's and both play perfectly well on the docking stations, one being great quality one. The 5th gen nano plays but only with internal speakers even tho connected to docking station....Help.
Your docking station may not be compatible with the 5th generation or you are not using the adapter that came with the iPod. If the adapter does not work, you will need to buy another docking station.
Did you ever get it to work or does anyone know a reasonably priced docking station that is compatible? I got an Ipod Nano 5G for Christmas. Followed all the instructions and trouble shooting with the same problem. Plays great on the ear buds, but only get scratchy internal speaker when placed on a docking station. I ended up exchanging the ipod. The new one does the same thing. I bought an iHome H10 that is supposed to be compatible, so I assumed it was the Ipod. Im really disappointed in this. The benefit of Apple is the easy transition and compatibility. You shouldn't have to test a hundred docking stations to get one to play an ipod.
Did you try the the dock adapter that came with your iPod? I checked on the iHome H10 website and nowhere does it state that it works with an iPod *Nano 5th generation.* That is what you need to verify when purchasing docking stations.
Macmall has a few. You will have to determine if they are reasonably priced or not -
