Can't delete DivX Player

I have DivX Player 2.0 and can't seem to get rid of it. When I migrated from my PowerBook to this computer, it 'came over' with it.

I was able to delete the preference pane, but even after a safe boot, I am still not able to delete the file. When I try, I get a message saying "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."

There is no uninstaller I know of.

HELP!!!!

OK, I added a step before hand, and back-up the computer completely. Please don't take that at a 'trust issue'.

that's a very good idea. i should have mentioned that myself.
Take it as a preventive for 'whoops!'

Worked like a CHARM!!!! Awesome, V. K.!!! Too bad I can't buy you a Starbucks or a burger or something as a thanks, because I really would if I could!

As always, the Mac community ROCKS!

you are welcome! I'm very glad it worked. something was evidently rotten in the directory services record of the old user.
