Ipod touch apps won't stay open

I have viewed a few other posts on this same topic, but the advice given is to repost as a new topic. My son got an i-touch for Christmas and it worked fine until today. Now when he taps on an icon for an app that he has downloaded, the title screen pops up but then he is immediately sent back to the apps home screen. The only apps that will work are the ones that came with the iPod touch.

Having the same problem with my sons ipod touch. After synching it with the pc the apps installed wont stay open. Any ideas???

Exactly the same thing to my son's new ipod. Game applications downloaded last night were not able to work 1 hour later. APPLE PLEASE GIVE ADVICE AS TO HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

Same here. I am going to try a few of the suggestions and if they don't work I may call support. I will repost what they tell me if it gets that far.

I wonder if its a glitch in the ipod touches?!

The previous post seems to have it right. A "restore", NO BACKUP, as new iPod ( changing the name) and reloading all apps, music, etc. did work (so far). A "restore" from backup did not work.
