I have same problem making the clip longer does not slow down the scroll rate just gives blank screen. If I put up Inspector it doesn't show the bar to slow it down. The Inspector only shows bar on other clips.
Double click on the Title bar that sits just above the thumbnails of the Title clip. This will open the Inspector. Change the duration to a longer time (in seconds). I used that title the other day and had it running at 30 seconds - almost perfect for the short amount of text I had in the title.
If you don't have "Double-click to edit" checked in iMovie Preferences, change to that rather than "Double-click to play"
Thanks for your answer. I have tried that but it doesn't slow down the scrolling it just means I have about 6 sec of blank screen. If I cannot find a way to slow down scrolling I guess I will need to go to a static title and do as you suggest.
Regards
Rick
That's odd - it worked fine for me. Make sure that the underlying background is exactly the same length as the actual Title - that's the trick I think!
I used (obviously) the 'Starry" black background for the title. I set this background to exactly 30 seconds - the same as the Title text. Give that a try (if you haven't already).
I must be doing something wrong. I change the duration to 10 sec but the title sequence only last 4.10 s and still scrolls too fast How do I get the actual title to last 10 sec? I've changed it to starry background but still have same problem.
Rick - I'm importing some footage into iMovie at the moment so can't check things. But, did you change the length of the starry background? Double click on the actual background and change its duration to match the duration of the Title text. So there are 2 places you need to go to. Ten seconds is too short - you need longer than this - try doubling BOTH the background clip AND Title to 20 seconds at least. Enter the time like this: 20:00 (that's 20 seconds no frames)
I can change the duration of the background to 20 sec but when I change the title length it just defaults back to 4.10 each time Can you remember how to do it Appreciate that your iMovie is busy at the moment.
My import has now finished Rick, so I will have a play around for you now. If I remember correctly, it took me a while to get it right also. I used the Star Wars Theme music in mine with some appropriate wording - it was a kid's birthday video where they received Lego Star Wars presents - grandsons with birthdays 1 day apart!
Don't know it just worked this time when I clicked it showed inspector changed the 4.10 to 20 sec and both background and titles lasted over longer period. Now having trouble changing the colour of the font I cut and pasted an email address in blue but background is blue can't change text to white either within iMovie or in text editor. The email address was cut from a web page
OK cancel that colour changed now. Thanks for your help. Seems iMovie doesn't respond first time but if I keep trying with same thing it gets the message I really want to change it !!!
