Virtual PC 6 or 7 for PowerBook Ti running 10.5.8

Among my other Macs, I have a PowerBook G4 Ti (3,5) running 10.5.8. I previously had run Virtual PC 6 for Mac/Windows XP bundle when I was running 10.3.x and 10.4.x.

I know I can't run Boot Camp, Parallels, or Fusion on this PPC based PowerBook (they all only run on Intel-based Macs.

So...Can I run VPC6/Mac or VPC7/Mac on it?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! CK2

I'm running VPC7 on a Dual G5 PM 2.0 Ghz. It's sluggish at best (depending on CPU speed). As are all prior versions of this software when using only one CPU.

On the other hand, the prior version or VPC 6 loaded to a 733 G4 DA beefed up with a Sonnet Dual G4 1.8 Ghz runs circles around VPC7 on a Dual G5. Don't ask me why.

I'm guessing Microsoft added just enough molasses to this particular Mac recipe when it comes to their own home brewed upgrade (really a down grade IMO). Version 7 makes one want to cry out against running Windows on a Mac. Whereas Version 6 of VPC running Windows XP Pro on a Dual G4 is significantly more powerful and much more responsive.

My 2 cents .... you're much better of staying with version six of VPC on a Dual G4 as opposed to "upgrading" to VPC 7 on a dual G5. MS did not do Mac users any favors with version seven of VPC (short of the fact you may be able to run Windows on a G5; although much more sluggishly than before).
